He was one of the bestseller authors to exploit the advantages of serial publications and met demands of popular audiences, he was master of self-promotion. His books were read in public.
CHILDHOOD, LIFE AND EARLY WORKS
Charles Dickens' family moved to London when he was 10, his father was sent to prison for debt and at the age of 12 Charles started to work in a factory. At 14 he started to work as a clerk in legal office and also wrote for comic newspaper.
Prison, poor quarter of London and work in a factory were traumatic and influenced his novel.
